Ridgefield’s Dr. Blaine Langberg Publishes Debut Novel

Orthodontist by day, author and stand-up comedian by night, Blaine Langberg announces the release of his new novel, Journey of a JuBu. Blaine describes his book as “part pilgrimage, part romp, a blend of spiritual humor and meta-fiction…it’s Seinfeld meets The Celestine Prophecy.”

Plans are underway for a September 15, 7:00 pm (postponed) book launch at The Ridgefield Library, 472 Main Street, in conjunction with Books on the Common. The novel is currently available and orders can be placed via Books on the Common at https://bookshop.org/shop/botc. Curbside pickup and shipping can be arranged as the store is currently not open to the public, out of an abundance of caution. For additional ordering details, call (203) 431-9100 or email info@booksonthecommon.com.

A Harvard-trained orthodontist, Blaine and his wife have been Ridgefield residents for 17 years, where they’re raising three daughters. Many locals know him through his practice in town, but may not have realized Blaine spent his nights, for the last seven years, writing Journey of a JuBu. He compares writing his bookto a therapy of sorts and fun outlet, a way to communicate thoughts via his narrator and alter ego, Jacob Silverstein. The book is loosely based on Blaine’s own experience as it explores a ‘neurotic Jewish dentist trying to find his spiritual footing.’ He found that peers at Westport Writers’ Workshop connected to his work, encouraging him publish. Enter Journey of a JuBu. Blaine likens his book release to his risky hike on Mount Kilimanjaro, but is thrilled about its availability to the Ridgefield community and beyond.

Print copies are primarily available via Books on the Common, 404 Main Street, Ridgefield and online — as is the digital version. For more information regarding Journey of a JuBu or to contact Blaine Langberg, visit journeyofajubu.com or follow him on his author page on Facebook.
