TODAY: Locals Plan Ridgefield Memorial Day Parade, Residents Invited to Decorate Vehicles

Ridgefield resident Brian Armstrong together with the Republican Town Committee, is organizing a Memorial Day Car Parade set to begin tomorrow, Monday, May 25 beginning at 10:00 am.

"We were all disappointed to find out that this year's Memorial Day parade was canceled, for obvious reasons. Thinking of a creative way to commemorate the occasion, The Ridgefield Republican Town Committee is planning a "vehicle only" parade through Ridgefield, on Monday, starting at 10am," explains Armstrong.

All are welcome to participate and are encouraged to decorate your vehicles with flags or messages. "We will be observing all normal traffic rules, so please abide by all stop signs and traffic lights," says Armstrong.

Armstrong says the plan is to meet at the Ridgefield High School parking at 9:30am and "social distance" in your vehicles until the start of the parade. Cars will caravan through Ridgefield with the final destination being Main Street. "We will pause for a moment of remembrance when we drive past St. Mary's cemetery (veterans graves are marked with American flags)," says Armstrong.

For those interested, after the parade Armstrong says that Tequila Escape Kitchen + Cocktail Bar will be hosting a special (outdoor) Memorial Day Brunch.
