Yesterday, John Devine, Chairman of Ridgefield Economic & Community Development Commission (ECDC) submitted a formal letter of resignation to First Selectman Rudy Marconi. Devine will be moving back to Andover, MA to be closer to his daughters and six grandchildren as well as his elderly mom. He remarked that it has been an honor and pleasure to serve the community of Ridgefield.
Appointed to the Commission in 2015, Devine, a marketing guru, has dedicated his time and energy toward the betterment of Ridgefield, especially its commerce.
"I am proud of the accomplishments that the ECDC has achieved over the past four years. We have made a noticeable and measurable impact on our community. The website, the elimination of silos, collaboration with all of the arts organizations and Downtown Ridgefield, new strong linkages with the State, bringing new businesses to town and watching them grow, adding banners and organizing calendars and building brand awareness through continuous paid effective marketing efforts to name a few. However, the efforts would have been much more difficult without our one-on-one monthly meetings with you and the support of the BOS. I leave knowing that a much stronger, talented and more diverse commission will continue to serve the community going forward," Devine said.
"I’ve had the good fortune to work with numerous leaders in our community in government, non-profits and local businesses and I am confident that the leadership and talent in our community will serve us well as we adjust to the changes. It will be a challenging journey and I trust that the continued efforts of the ECDC will contribute to the recovery," said Devine.
Thank you, John! You have made Ridgefield a better place! May health and happiness follow you to Andover. Enjoy your family.
