Creativity Connects Ridgefield: Meet Jessica Collins

Creativity Connects Ridgefield

What fuels a vibrant, connected, and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Ridgefield?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good. Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Ridgefield.

Creativity connects us.

Meet Jessica Collins, mom, award-winning writer, giant pumpkin enthusiast, local photog.

How does creativity connect you to Ridgefield?

I feel like living in Ridgefield has helped me grow as a creative person. I've met incredible people. I've been given so many opportunities here to explore creativity through writing and photography. I've been able to spend time photographing the things I love most and I've found such encouragement in our community.

Any place in town where you go for inspiration and creativity?

There are so many places in town that I find inspiring. I'm a big believer in slowing down and really seeing the beauty that surrounds you. I spend a lot of time walking in town and it's then that my mind slows down and I really see the details and feel so inspired. I love the fountain when it's lit up at night, the houses with candles in the windows, the stone walls. I love the way history is interwoven in the present...it makes me feel connected to the past and the future. After being here for so long, I still continue to find things in town I didn't notice before.

Finish this sentence: When I think of creativity in town I think of …

When I think of creativity in town, I think of how amazing it is to be surrounded by so many fascinating creative people. I love that this town has so many artists, writers, cartoonists, musicians, comedians, singers, people who bring the arts to everyone. There is creativity everywhere in Ridgefield. I love that we can visit ACT of Connecticut, the Ridgefield Playhouse, sparkle at the Prospector, explore the Aldrich, find artists through the Guild and Art on Main, hear a symphony orchestra, see incredible performances in our schools (the talent there is amazing), and run into a beloved childhood author in town (and yes, that really happened).
