Creativity Connects Ridgefield: Meet Ira Joe Fisher, Writer, Poet

Creativity Connects Ridgefield

What fuels a vibrant, connected, and creative community? What makes people feel good about living in Ridgefield?

When locals share the creativity that they uncover in the nooks and crannies of their community it brings about connectivity and makes us all feel good. Believe it or not, you discover creativity every day as you walk, shop, work, and play in Ridgefield.

Creativity connects us.

Meet Ira Joe Fisher, Emmy award-winning journalist, writer, poet, actor.

Is there a person or organization using creativity to provoke change in Ridgefield?

ACT of Connecticut jumps to the front of my thoughts.  Dan Levine, Bryan Perri, Katie Diamond and the musicians and crew of the theatre have brought Broadway to Ridgefield.  It is staging of a high and entertaining quality.  Stimulating to join; delighting to observe.  Ridgefield Playhouse also graces our zip code with the art of entertaining.  Both ACT and the Playhouse are blessings in our town and our hearts.

Is there an organization in town that makes you feel good?

Certainly.  Ridgefield A Better Chance is a grand gift of education and inclusion and diversity here at home.  The students and supporters and teachers are what our town and our nation ...and we need in these often too-tense times.  We need to be reminded of our shared humanity and how we all have a role in fostering friendship.  I also think of ROAR.  What a sweet mission …to consider and care for the animals with whom we share the planet.  I have never met a dog or a cat I did not like.  And want to hug and help.

Any place in town where you go for inspiration and creativity?

Well, I like to drive through town on errands and notice the shadows of the trees playing upon my windshield.  And I love those trees in my yard. The sounds they conjure in concert with the wind bring sweet songs and images to me.  The trees glow my soul.

Finish this sentence: When I think of creativity in town I think of ...

Ridgefield Library, Books on the Common, ACT of Connecticut, the Ridgefield Playhouse, Founders Hall, the variety of great pizzas ...and the charm of our streets – long and brief.

How does creativity connect you to Ridgefield?

At any gathering of Ridgefield neighbors, I listen to what is said and sung.  And I feel heard when I am saying or (badly) singing.
