Updated: Services Planned for Ridgefield Resident Scotty Baird, 31

Gordon Scott Baird Jr., 31, of Ridgefield, known by those he loves as Scotty, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 7, 2020.

Scotty, a longtime resident of Ridgefield is survived by his loving parents, Gordon Scott Sr. and Jane (Soyak) Baird, his siblings Lyndsey and Kevin Baird, his paternal grandparents Gordon and Amy Baird of Spring Hill, FL, his maternal grandparents Robert and Janet Soyak of Ridgefield and aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

Scotty attended Ridgefield schools, graduated from Ridgefield High School with the Class of 2006 and Western Connecticut State University in 2017.  Scotty’s love for hockey began when his dad taught him how to skate at the age of three.  He was also passionate about golf, UFC, and boating with his family and friends.  Scotty was known fondly by those close to him for his quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and for making those around him laugh.  He was devoted to his family and friends and loved spending as much time with them as possible.  He had a kind soul and a heart of gold.  He was as loyal as they come.

Friends will be received in the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah St., Ridgefield on Thursday, August 13, 2020, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Due to the pandemic crisis, hand sanitizing, facial coverings are required and social distancing will be observed.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, August 14, 2020, at 1 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 520 Ridgebury Rd., Ridgefield.  Hand sanitizing and facial coverings will be required and social distancing will be observed.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Scotty’s honor and memory may be made to the Ridgefield High School Boys Ice Hockey Booster Club, 15 Serfillippi Drive, and /or the Ridgefield Prevention Council, 400 Main St., both of Ridgefield, CT  06877.
