Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Your Home CPR!

Three questions with Michael Trenck, owner and Training Coordinator at the Your Home CPR.

Why did you start your business?

I started Your Home CPR because I wanted to make learning CPR and First Aid training convenient and easy for parents, community leaders, and healthcare providers. I know that it can be very scary to be faced with an unexpected emergency, but learning how to be prepared for one doesn't have to be. We can teach classes in our student's home, business, or in our training site in downtown Ridgefield.

What is your best selling product/service?

One of our most popular classes is our Infant and Child Emergencies Class. This class is designed for expectant mothers, new parents, and grandparents that take care of young kids in the home. We focus on how to recognize the signs of a life-threatening emergency and what to do before the ambulance arrives. This is also my favorite class to teach because I know that the people I'm working with are taking the class to help protect their own loved ones. Although I hope the families we work with never have to use the skills we teach, I know they'll be prepared to act fast to save someone's life.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

This year we had to reimagine and reinvent ways we could teach people CPR and First Aid. While we weren't able to visit people's homes because of COVID, we developed and perfected an instructor-led remote learning program. So far this year, over 450 people have visited our "Zoom Classroom" to learn and practice the hands-on skills of CPR and First Aid!

Your Home CPR is located at 109 Danbury Road in Ridgefield. Visit them online here, and make sure to check out their Facebook page as well!
