COVID Cases at Veterans Park and RHS, Possible In School Transmissioin at the High School

Aaron Crook, COVID-19 Health and Safety Compliance Liaison Coordinator reported that this afternoon the District learned that a member of the Veteran’s Park Elementary School (VPES) community has tested positive for COVID-19, and another is presumed positive.

Crook said that these two individuals were in the VPES building and infectious on Monday, November 16, Tuesday, November 17, and Wednesday, November 18. Both individuals are connected outside of the VPES school building.

The District also just learned a member of the RHS community has tested positive for COVID-19. According to Crook, this individual was not in the RHS building during a time when they were infectious. "This individual was exposed to COVID-19 on November 12 at RHS. We cannot rule out in school transmission for this case," he said.

Crook says, "I have conferred with Town of Ridgefield Health Department Director, Ed Briggs, and RPS Medical Advisor, Dr. James Ahern about these cases and contact tracing has begun."

The VPES community will hear from Principal Ellen Tuckner as soon as contact tracing has been completed.
