COVID Cases Reported at Farmingville and RHS, Some Students and Staff at High School in Quarantine

RPS COVID Cases

Farmingville Elementary

Aaron Crook, RN and RPS COVID-19 Health and Safety Compliance Liaison, reported that yesterday, Monday, January 18, the District learned that two members of the Farmingville Elementary School community have tested positive for COVID-19. One of these individuals was quarantined due to exposure at FES on Jan 11, therefore in-school transmission cannot be ruled out in this case; however, there is also a potential source of infection from outside of the school building which is the more likely source of infection.

Crook says that one of these individuals was in the FES building and potentially infectious to others on Wednesday, January 13. Individuals they were in contact with on January 13 are already in quarantine from exposure on January 11. Two days will be added to their quarantine period.

The other positive individual was not in the FES building during a period of time when they were potentially infectious to others. No contact tracing is needed for these cases.

Ridgefield High School

Crook also reported a COVID case at RHS. He said, "We also learned Monday that a member of the Ridgefield High School community has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was not in the RHS building during a time when they were potentially infectious to others. No contact tracing is needed.

Today, the District learned that a member of the Ridgefield High School community has tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was briefly in the RHS building this morning. Contact tracing for this case has been completed.

Five students and two staff members have been placed in quarantine for 10 days.

Crook said, "I have conferred with Town of Ridgefield Health Director, Ed Briggs, and RPS Medical Advisor, Dr. James Ahern about this case. Please wear a mask, wash your hands, and keep your distance."
