Message to the Community From Library Director Brenda McKinley: Serving Visitors in Contactless Way

To help our community get through this pandemic together and with concern for your safety, our staff continues to add ways we can serve you either from home or in a contactless way.

We strongly encourage patrons to utilize the Contactless Lobby Pickup service for requested materials. To schedule Lobby Pickup appointments, follow the link in the “Hold Ready” email you receive when your materials are ready for pickup. Please let our Circulation Team know if you need assistance. You can reach Circulation, Monday-Friday 10am-5pm or Saturday 10am-1pm at 203-438-2282 ext.12003.

Need help picking out materials? The Library recently added Personalized Book Bundles! Fill in our Personal Book Bundles Form on the Library website with the types of materials you or your children are looking for and our librarians will curate a selection just for you. Provide your Library card number and we will check the materials out for you to pick up in the Main Level Lobby. We will contact you once your order is ready.

Something brand new is a LiveChat service! Just click the LiveChat link on our website to start an online chat with one of our librarians during our Express Browsing Hours.

The Library continues to offer all of our popular Virtual Library services, including online programming for all ages, online individual research and technology support, access to our expanded digital collection, Consult-A-Librarian individual Zoom appointments, and remote access to our catalog and Library card account services.

We are also here to help you by phone or email:

Due to the sustained high number of positive COVID-19 cases in our area, the Ridgefield Library will be maintaining the current status of in-Library Express Services. The health and safety of our community and staff remains our primary concern and our most important service priority. We are asking our patrons to restrict their stays to the minimum time needed. Visitors are limited to one 30-minute visit per person per day. All visitors must wear CDC conforming masks that fully cover nose and mouth, use
hand sanitizer on entry, and maintain proper social distancing while visiting the Library.

Our current in-Library Express Browsing Hours are:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 10am-1pm; 2pm-5pm (closed 1pm-2pm for enhanced cleaning)
Wednesday 4pm-7pm
Saturday 10am-1pm

The outdoor book drop is open 24/7 for return of Library materials. Our indoor book drop is also open and available during Express Browsing Hours. The Library continues to quarantine returned materials per recommended guidelines for your safety and we will not charge overdue fines at this time. Please return materials on time so that they are available for others to enjoy. Please also note that due to quarantine requirements it may take up to 6 days for certain items to be “checked in” and no longer appear on your library account.

As the COVID-19 pandemic situation evolves, our services may be subject to further change. We will continue to communicate with email updates, so please be sure to join our email list, and check our website for current information and Frequently Asked Questions about Express Library services. Please take a moment to read through these before planning your visit.

Thank you for your patience and support through these challenging times. Stay well, Ridgefield!
