Ridgefield Loses a Legend, Dimitri Paschalidis has Died

Today, we learned that a Ridgefield legend, the man who opened two of our Town’s most popular eateries and supported so many of our community nonprofits, passed away.

We pay tribute to the great Dimitri Paschalidis, co-owner of Dimitri’s Diner and Gyro on Pita, who passed away after head surgery performed due to aggressive cancer, according to Dimitri's staff. He was an incredible man who achieved the American dream, right here in Ridgefield.

Several years back, HamletHub had the honor of interviewing Dimitrios Paschalidis. He vividly recalled, “It was 1968, on April 11th at 11am.” Paschalidis traveled eleven days by boat to come to America from his native Greece. “I grew up hungry.”

For more than two decades the very patriotic Paschalidis has been feeding the hungry.

Together with Kostas Mavridis, he was the proud owner of Dimitri’s Diner Gyro on Pita.

The staff at Dimitri’s Diner wrote this on Facebook:

“Unfortunately, Dimitris is no longer with us. We want to thank all of you for the million prayers and wishes! We promise to continue servicing all of you, with the same love and generosity as he did all thru the years."

Thank you to Dimitri Paschalidis for bringing good things to Ridgefield and being such an important part in putting unity in CommUNITY.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Dimitri’s Diner family.

Visit Dimitri's Facebook page for additional information.
