Ridgefield Resident Frederick Warren Metzner, Jr., 51, has Died

Frederick Warren Metzner, Jr., 51, of Ridgefield, died on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at Danbury Hospital, after a brief illness.

Fred was born in Englewood, New Jersey, on November 22, 1969, a son of Marilee Garlanda of Ridgefield and Longboat Key, Florida, and Frederick Warren Metzner, Sr., of Royal Palm Beach, Florida.

He attended Ridgefield schools and graduated from Denver Automotive and Diesel College in 1990, with an associates' degree in diesel mechanics. During his lifetime, Fred held several positions working on various types of heavy equipment, sometimes as an employee and at times independently. Fred enjoyed collecting unusual and historic knives and timepieces. He had many friends and had a deep affection for all children, with whom he had a loving rapport.

Fred is survived by his mother and father; a brother, John A. Metzner (April), of Newtown; a sister, Sylvie G. Tuohy (Thomas), of Ridgefield; nieces Olivia and Charlotte Tuohy, and Ellie Metzner, as well as many friends, co-workers, and associates whom he held in deep regard.

Calling hours, which will be held at the Kane Funeral Home, 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield, Connecticut, to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Fred's name to the Danbury Hospital would be appreciated.
