Keeler Tavern Museum & History Center is proud to announce that Jackson Carter is the recipient of the 2021 Bettie Jane Third Memorial Scholarship.

Jackson, who graduated from Ridgefield High School this June, has volunteered at KTM&HC since the summer of 2018 as a rising sophomore. He has worked on various cataloging projects for the museum's collections and archives, including a complete cataloging, organizing and numbering of the Barn Tools Collection; keywording the Archives database to make it easier to search the museum’s historical documents online; and scanning, cataloging, and rehousing Hartmann glass plate negatives. Jackson has also helped with research projects, including compiling background information on the historic maps KTM&HC uses for school programs and researching the agricultural history of Ridgefield for the #HandsOnHistory exhibition Living Off the Land.

“Keeler Tavern Museum and History Center has been an important part of my life,” said Jackson. “I’ve always been fascinated by our town’s history, and there is no better place to discover more about it than Keeler Tavern. I am incredibly grateful to be receiving this scholarship. It will go a long way towards continuing my education at college and beyond.”

The Bettie Jane Third Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually by KTM&HC to a graduating senior who is planning on majoring in general history or library sciences and/or who has volunteered considerable time at the museum. The scholarship award is given in memory of the late Bettie Jane Third, a professional librarian and avid supporter of KTM&HC.
