Cubby works at The Prospector Theater and is an inspiration to mankind

August is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Awareness Month and Cubby, a Prospect at Ridgefield's Prospector Theater, wants to share his story.

Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) is the gradual loss of voluntary muscles. Due to having SMA Type 1, I have had to overcome many obstacles. When I was born, doctors said I wouldn't live past age two. There are times when I am a little scared of my future and how people that I meet will be able to interact with me. But I never let a problem get in the way. I lead a productive life - completing school and getting a job at the Prospector. I am more than my disabilities.

The photo you see here shows Cubby working side-by-side with Ian on a computer. They are creating a video production!

The Prospector Theater is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing competitive and integrated employment to people with disabilities through the operation of a premium, first-run movie theater. Employees of the Theater are known as Prospects, and we are encouraged to sparkle, shine, and transform our passions into professions.
