Three members of Ridgefield High School Community Test Positive for COVID, Two Students Place in Quarantine, Possible In-school Transmission

COVID-19 Cases at Ridgefield High School

Aaron Crook, RPS COVID-19 Health and Safety Compliance Liaison, reported that last evening, the District learned that a member of the Ridgefield High School (RHS) community tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was in the RHS building and at RPS sponsored events while potentially infectious to others on Tuesday, August, 31.

Contact tracing for this case has been completed. Two students were placed in quarantine.

Today, Crook said that the District learned that another member of the RHS community tested positive. This individual was in the RHS building and at RPS sponsored events while potentially infectious to others on Tuesday, August 31, and Wednesday, September 1.

In-school transmission cannot be ruled out in this case. Contact tracing for this case is nearly complete.

Today, the District also learned an additional RHS community member tested positive for COVID-19. This individual was in the RHS building while potentially infectious to others on Tuesday, August 31.

Contact tracing for this case is underway.

Crook has conferred with Town of Ridgefield Health Director Ed Briggs and RHS Medical Advisor Dr. James Ahern about this case.

"According to Connecticut Department of Public Health Data, the relative risk of infection with the Delta variant in CT is 5x lower for fully vaccinated individuals. Wear a mask, wash your hands, keep your distance, and get vaccinated," says Crook.
