Prizes Awarded by Juror at Annual Juried Exhibition Opening
Ridgefield Guild of Artists’ 44th Annual Juried Exhibition opened with a reception on Sunday, September 19. This year’s juror, George Billis, of the George Billis Gallery in Westport, attended the opening and awarded prizes to the winners.
From the over 300 pieces entered into this year’s show, the juror selected 70 works by 56 artists. Susan Stillman of White Plains NY, won First Place for her acrylic on canvas, “Walkway Over the Hudson.” Second Place went to Nancy Moore of Ridgefield CT for her watercolor, “Wellspring.” Margaret Sweeney Ballou from New Milford CT went home with the Third-Place prize for her pastel on board, “Blue Venus.”
Honorable Mentions were awarded to the following artists: Michele Gage of Pound Ridge NY for her watercolor “Approaching the Wall;” Corinne Lapin-Cohen of Katonah NY, for her oil painting “Poppy;” Norm Siegel of Norwalk CT for his oil on canvas, “Treasure Island;” and Joan Wheeler of Easton CT for her fiber art piece, “Persephone.”
The Juried Show continues through Sunday, October 17th. Ridgefield Guild of Artists is located at 34 Halpin Lane. Gallery hours are 12-4pm, Wednesday – Sunday. Plan to visit soon.
