Ridgefield resident Joan Garbow elected co-president, Aging Life Care Association, NE Chapter

Ridgefield resident Joan Garbow has been elected co-president of the Aging Life Care Association, New England Chapter, for the 2022-2024 term. She will represent a multi-state region including CT, MA, RI, VT, NH, and ME. ALCA is the leading national organization for professional care managers who specialize in working with older adults, providing assessments, care planning, resources, and advocacy. 

Garbow is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a Certified Case Manager, and an Advanced Professional Member of the Aging Life Care Association since 2007. Joan is recognized by top healthcare, legal and financial professionals as an extremely knowledgeable and effective advocate for her clients. Assisting families who are overwhelmed or stressed in their role of caregiver is also a key element of what an Aging Life Care Manager provides.

Joan received her Master's degree in Social Work from Columbia University, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Clinical Psychology from Tufts University. With over 25 years of professional social work experience in homecare, acute care, family services and physical rehabilitation, combined with her ability to quickly assess and respond to critical situations, Joan has developed a unique and highly effective approach to Aging Life Care Management. 

Through her private practice, Joan assists families throughout Western Connecticut with issues and challenges affecting older adults and adults with disabilities.
