Memorial for Bob Chapman planned in Ridgefield on June 5

Robert “Bob” Chapman, Jr.

Robert George Chapman, Jr., 63, longtime resident of Ridgefield, CT, a beloved father, brother, and uncle, passed away on March 30, 2022. Known for adding color to any room he entered, Bob was gregarious and engaging, savvy and strong-willed, loving and loved dearly.

Robert was born March 30, 1959, in Amityville, New York and spent his formative years in Massapequa Park, New York. He was raised and surrounded by powerful women: his grandmother Delia, his mother, Dorothy, and his sisters, Margie, Dot, and Kathy. His father, Robert George Sr., and his elder cousin, Robert, were pivotal in his development as well. While he left Long Island later on in life, he took his accent with him.

Bob loved lacrosse. He played defense at Berner High School, then at SUNY Cobleskill and Adelphi University. Upon moving to Ridgefield, Connecticut, he co-founded Ridgefield’s youth lacrosse program in 1996, which has since produced countless NCAA athletes.

He loved music. He saw Bob Dylan countless times, as well as most of the greatest acts of his generation. He collected all his ticket stubs in a binder — organization was his forte.

Alongside his former wife, Brenda, he raised a family of four, the proud father of Trey, Drew, Caroline, and Michael.

Bob will be remembered for his humor, his passions, and his long-winded, sometimes related stories. As Bob Dylan once said,

“Precious memories, how they linger

How they ever flood my soul.

In the stillness of the midnight,

Precious sacred scenes unfold.”

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family asks that you donate to Michael Chapman’s education fund. Checks can be made payable to Michael W. Chapman and mailed to
