Champion for gun violence prevention, Ridgefield resident Anita Donofrio receives national award

Almost a decade ago, Jim and Sarah Brady accomplished the unthinkable - amending the Gun Control Act of 1968. The Brady Law mandates federal background checks on firearm purchasers in the United States.

On June 16, five individuals who are paving the way for a world without gun violence are being honored for embodying the spirit and legacy of Jim and Sarah Brady. 

Among them is Ridgefield resident Anita Donofrio. 

A champion of gun violence prevention, Anita will receive the Advocate Action Award and will be honored on June 16 at a Virtual Gala. You can register to attend the event HERE.

The Sandy Hook tragedy shook our world. Anita Donofrio sprung into action doing all in her power to reduce gun violence by passionately advocating for sensible gun laws. She actively lobbied for gun legislation reform on both the local and national levels.

The Brady Action Awards gala will be emceed by MSNBC National Correspondent and host of "The ReidOut" Joy Reid and feature special guests including Bryan Cranston, Kris Brown, and Rep. Maxine Waters.
