Ridgefield native, RHS grad, Emily Griffin, 28, has died

On Thursday, July 21, at 9:42 PM, our beloved Emily Nora Griffin passed away at the age of 28 years old. Heaven called her home and gained their most powerful angel, much to our great loss.

Emily leaves behind a legacy of love and is survived by her family, who loved her more than life, including her parents, Lauri and Timothy; her five siblings, David, Molly and her husband Ryan, Tim, Michela,Ridge and Liam; her cat, Athena; and her fish, Avi. She was also surrounded by her loving grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and her "second mom," Judith, who she loved all so much.

To know Emily is to love Emily. Emily devoted her entire life towards caring for people in need, from taking care of preschool children at the Cadence Academy, to spending years in Arizona taking care of the most vulnerable patients in their end-of-life moments, helping them to pass in peace. Whether it was a stranger Emily encountered on the street, or a friend in need, Emily spread love and compassion in her every moment of being.

Emily was fascinated with the night sky, always curious about what existed beyond the stars that we could see. She loved making art, watching the Food Network, she loved animals, especially elephants and dogs, and she loved to create the best music playlists. She spent several years in Arizona and was fascinated by the beautiful sunsets there. So much so, she even painted the most beautiful sunset in the sky for her family on the night she left.

Emily was an angel amongst us, and leaves an unending legacy of so much love. In her honor, Emily wanted to help animals, build an herbal tea shop to help heal people naturally, and especially find ways to give joy to young children in the hospital wards at Yale New Haven Hospital. Her family, through the pain, will work every day to continue her honor, and you can help by donating to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital here.

Emily's Wake Services will be held on Tuesday, July 26 from 5-8 PM, at McGrath's Funeral Home in Bronxville, NY. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 27, at 9:45 AM at St. Joseph's Church in Bronxville, NY.

The event will also be livestreamed.

In Emily's honor, please wear something brightly colored to her services. Her favorite color of all was purple.

She will be eternally missed.
