On this beautiful fall afternoon, community members gathered at The Ridgefield Playhouse to celebrate Alex Fischetti for his decade of dedicated work as an usher at The Ridgefield Playhouse.
In attendance was Connecticut State Senator Julie Kushner who surprised Alex with a Proclamation for not only his ten-year anniversary as a hard-working Playhouse employee but for his many years as a volunteer at The Center for Empowerment and Education (formerly known as The Women’s Center).
Regarding the Proclamation, Alex said, “I’m so touched and honored to receive this [Proclamation]. This venue, this town, and the state mean the world to me. I can’t express enough just how blessed I am.”
Ridgefield Playhouse Executive Director Allison Stockel, who organized today’s gathering, gave Alex a life-changing opportunity a decade ago. “It was 10 years ago when Charles Grodin walked into my office at The Ridgefield Playhouse and Introduced me to his pal Alex Fischetti who was looking for work - so I hired him as one of our ushers.”
This was the first job for the Ridgefield High School grad on the autism spectrum. He says, “Ten years at the first job I’ve ever had, a workplace that has given me a working family and a place I can feel safe amongst those who look out for me always!”
This was a feel-good Sunday afternoon full of cheerful camaraderie and friendship. “We wanted to show Alex how special he is and how much we appreciate him,” says Stockel.
