Beloved Ridgefield resident Nancy Bossidy has died, she is survived by her husband of 66 years, Larry, and nine children

Surrounded by her husband of 66 years and the family that was the centerpiece of her life, Nancy Jo Bossidy passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at her home in Ridgefield. Nancy lived a beautiful and dignified life.

Nancy was born on November 9th, 1936 in Pittsfield, Massachusetts to Thomas and Lucy Rodhouse. She graduated from St. Joseph Central High School in Pittsfield and attended Regis College in Weston, Massachusetts for two years.

In 1956 Nancy married her soulmate Larry Bossidy. Over the next fifteen years, Nancy and Larry had nine children. Nancy was an incredibly devoted mother and, for her, being a full-time mom was a labor of love. She rarely missed a game or performance involving her children. Nancy and Larry lived in Schenectady, New York for thirteen years before moving to Ridgefield in 1970. Nancy loved the town and while she and Larry travelled the world and could have lived anywhere, she never considered leaving her beloved Ridgefield.

Over the years Nancy was involved in many activities in town. For her entire time in Ridgefield Nancy was a member of St. Mary's Parish. She taught religious education there for thirteen years. She tap danced with the McDonald Pin dancers for 36 years and sang with the Charles Pope Choristers for five years. Nancy served on the Board of Directors at Founders Hall for eleven years.

Shortly before her passing, Nancy wrote: "I am so incredibly thankful and grateful for my life on earth. Starting with my parents and the gift of the Catholic faith which they gave me. I am thankful for Tom, Jack and Paul - three good men for brothers. I am grateful to my husband Larry and our nine children. I have loved them with all my heart, forgiven their trespasses and taught them to pray to ask the Holy Spirit to help them be the best they can be. Come Holy Spirit." Nancy had a unique ability to make everyone feel special, including of course her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her signature sign-off at the end of any conversation with a friend or relative: "God be with you."

Nancy is survived by her husband Larry; her three brothers Tom Rodhouse, Paul Rodhouse and his wife Gloria and Jack Rodhouse and his wife Kathy. Also, her daughter Lynn Tidgwell (Tom, Conor, Kelleigh), son Larry Bossidy and wife Sharon (Tim, Kendall), son Paul Bossidy and wife Tricia (Paul, Brendan), daughter Pam Martin and husband Phil (Quinn, Lily), daughter Nancy Dugdale and husband George (Nick, Sam, Jack, Luke), daughter Mary Jane Kelemen and husband Drew (Lucy, Andrew, Jane), daughter Lucy Milliano and husband Tony (Nicole, Gabrielle, Anthony), son Mike and wife Julie (Mike, Ted, Maddie, Josie), and daughter Kathleen Mackie and husband Scot (Charlotte, Molly, Georgia, Scot, Henry, BB). Nancy is also survived by eleven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Nancy was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Lucy Rodhouse and by two grandsons, Christopher Martin and Daniel Tidgwell.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, March 23, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield. A Mass of Christian Burial in celebration of Nancy’s life will take place on Friday, March 24, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Saint Mary’s Church; 55 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.
