Ridgefield High School Post Grad Event Needs Support

For the 39th time, the Ridgefield High School PTSA is organizing an event to be held the night of graduation to provide a safe way for the Class of 2023 to celebrate this huge milestone together.

Each year, over 90% of the graduating class attends, and the rest wish they had!

The RHS Post Grad event was started in Ridgefield following the tragic death of one graduate in 1983 as the result of a drunk driver (a fellow graduate ) leaving a party hosted by the father of another fellow graduate.  The driver died by suicide three years later.  What should have been a day remembered for joyful celebration brought the Ridgefield community grief instead.

In an effort to prevent further unnecessary tragedies, the Post Grad event is the last major hurrah for graduating seniors. The event itself is always incredible!  It takes place at the Ridgefield Recreation Center from 10:00 pm until 3:30 am on the night of graduation, which will be held on  Wednesday, June 21st this year.  The entire Ridgefield Rec Center is transformed to match the theme.

There are games of all sorts to entertain all interests, including poker, craps, carnival-style, inflatable, VR, Nintendo Switch tournaments, photo booths, cornhole and more!  There is a DJ and tons of food donated from local, favorite teenage eateries including   Chez Leonard, Planet Pizza, Genoa Deli & Pizza, Dunkin Donuts and The Cake Box.

The most excitement throughout the night comes from the raffle prizes!  There are three rounds of raffle prizes throughout the night, plus a final grand prize round for all graduates in attendance.  Each raffle round has over 30 prizes!  And these prizes are worth winning!  The volunteer committee works tirelessly to secure the hottest items for which the graduates are looking for the next chapters in their lives, including “Everything You need for the Dorm Room” basket, iWatches, mini-fridges, scooters, bicycles and lots more!

The Post Grad event is FREE for all RHS graduates to attend. That is right, the graduates attend for free.  Graduates and parents only need to sign a waiver to attend.  The waiver may be found at https://www.rhspostgrad.com.

Clearly, an awesome event of this magnitude is not cheap to plan, so the organizers must have the community support with donations and volunteers to keep the party going!  To see how you can get involved or support this event, please go to https://www.rhspostgad.com.
