Ridgefield resident Rose Elizabeth Joyce, 101, has died

Rose Elizabeth Joyce, 101, died February 13th, 2023 at her home in Ridgefield, CT.

She was born December 1st, 1921, in Brooklyn, New York to Mildred and Patrick Damiano. Her father was a police officer. Her mother was a devoted homemaker.  

Rose grew up in New York and that is where she met and married her beloved husband, John Edward Joyce. Rose supported her husband’s photography business and together they moved to Ridgefield, Connecticut in 1953. Shortly after their move they welcomed their daughter, Jennifer, into their lives. Following John's death, Rose continued her career of secretarial work, which had begun at Vogue Magazine and concluded in the local school system.  

Rose's hobbies and interests included reading, cooking, sewing, and crafting.  She was an active member of St. Mary’s Parish and local community groups for seniors.  

Rose is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Reid, and her spouse, Tim Reid; granddaughters, Shannon and Katherine Reid and their spouses, Erik Holmes and Kevin Notaro; and 5 great-grandchildren, Thomas and Luke Shorrock, Niamh and Nolan Notaro, and Declan Holmes. She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jacqueline Kerry Shorrock.

Services will take place privately. 

In recognition of Rose’s deep love for her husband and granddaughter, both veterans, donations may be sent to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. 

Kane Funeral Home, Ridgefield is in care of arrangements.
