First Pie is a Success! 850 Degrees Opening Soon!
Things are heating up in downtown Ridgefield. We caught up with Larry Debany today. Debany is fired up about his soon-to-open eatery, 850°.
And the pie you see here? "That was the first pizza. The temperature was only 750 degrees and the pie cooked in 3 minutes. Tomorrow I'll try it at 850 degrees - should cook in 2 minutes," says Debany. Temperature is key, but how did the first pie taste? "The flavor was great - smokey!" Debany adds.
With 14 beers on tap, lots of great boutique-type wines, and a beautiful cobblestone patio, this is sure to be a place where friends will gather and celebrations will ensue.
"It's going to be very different than other restaurants in town," says owner Larry Debany, who also owns Ridgefield's own 'Cheers' type eatery, Fifty Coins.
850°, named for the temp of a wood fired pizza oven, will offer fresh salads and individual wood-fired fare (that's right, it's not just the pizza that's wood fired!) "We'll have wood fired appetizers too, including wings," Debany explains.
And then there's Happy Hour. "During Happy Hour we'll offer a beer and pie for $10," says Debany.
With 15 stools at the bar and an array of beers on tap, I'd say that's happy.
"We hope to open in a month," says Debany.
