“Seasons” Show Featuring Paintings by Ann Kromer Opens Sept. 4 at Keeler Tavern Museum

Keeler Tavern Museum’s Carriage Barn at 132 Main Street, Ridgefield, will be the venue for “Seasons,” a one-woman show by Ann Kromer of Ridgefield, CT, whose gardenscapes and landscapes have won numerous awards. This exhibit and sale of paintings in acrylic, oil, and watercolor opens with a reception Friday, September 4, 2015, 6:00-9:00 p.m., and continues through Sunday, September 13. After the opening reception, show hours will be Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; and Saturday, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.

A portion of the artist’s sales will go toward the restoration of the Museum’s historic Carriage Barn, which was designed and built by renowned architect Cass Gilbert in 1910.

Ann Kromer paints from nature in a loose impressionistic style. “Most of the art in this show was done en plein air in New England, especially Fairfield County,” says the artist. “Painting en plein air is an ongoing exploration of what it feels like to be in that space, surrounded by all that light and atmosphere, feeling the tug of the horizon.” She hopes that visitors to her show will “enjoy all the New England seasons as they tour the year through my paintings.”

Ms. Kromer has exhibited throughout the United States, most recently at the Salmagundi Club in New York City, and her works are in many private collections. In 2015, she won the Best of Show at Danbury’s Richter Association for the Arts and awards at juried shows at the Rowayton (CT) Arts Center and The Society of Creative Arts of Newtown (CT). Her work was also selected by the Kent Art Association, in Kent, CT, for a solo invitation show that ran through this past June. She is an artist member of the National Society of Casein and Acrylic and of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club, among other affiliations.

Keeler Tavern Museum, 132 Main Street, Ridgefield, CT, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, presents three centuries of the region’s history through the lives of the families that occupied the site starting in 1713. It offers docent-led tours of its period-furnished Museum building February through December, and its Cass Gilbert-designed Carriage Barn, Garden House, and garden are venues for many public and private events.
