Giving Thanks for #GivingTuesday at St. Mary School Ridgefield

This past Tuesday, November 28, people all over the globe were charged with being charitable and giving local in the spirit of the holiday season.

#GivingTuesday, a worldwide day of giving that began in 2012,  has become a local movement to give where you live - right here in Ridgefield!

St. Mary School, who just celebrated their third year of Giving Tuesday, received a total of $31,134 from 93 donors who included parents and grandparents of students, school staff, and faculty, as well as alumni and parents of alumni.

“We view these contributions as a statement of support for our mission,” says Amy Dowding, St. Mary School Director of Advancement, who adds, “Proceeds from the Fund are an essential component of the school's budget, used for a variety of key operating expenses, capital expenditures, program enhancements, annual staff appreciation awards, and future reserves.”

A whopping $177,000,000 was raised on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, in 98 countries. We’re happy that Ridgefield nonprofits were among the 1,6400,00 gifts made on #GivingTuesday in 2017.
