109's New Year's Eve Faves, Platters, and Holiday Hours

Happy (Almost) New Year's Eve!

109 Cheese and Wine will be open today, Saturday, December 30 until 6:00 pm and on New Year's Eve from 9 am - 4 pm in both the Cheese Shop, Wine Shop & Kent location.

"We will be closed January 1 and January 2 so Otis can rest," says 109 owner, Todd Brown.

In need of last-minute New Year's Eve provisions? You can still order a New Year's Eve platter. What's more, "We still have Caviar available!" says Todd. Call to order: 203-438-5757

Some of 109's favorite New Years wines:

San Venanzio Vino Rosato Spumante NV
A delicious and fun sparkling Pinot Noir rosé from Valdobbiadene, the land of great Prosecco. This wine explodes with notes of red berries and is a perfect way to start off the festivities.

Jaffelin Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc de Blancs
100% chardonnay shines in this crisp and delightful wine. Hints of crisp green apple skins and underripe pear underpin solid minerals. Crisp, clean, and a true crowd pleaser.

Malíbran Prosecco: A classic Prosecco
This is another Valdobbiadene wine, meaning it is a DOCG, the highest level of quality certified by the Italians. It drinks like champagne, with tangy minerals, a long, clean finish, and just a hint of that breadiness that is a hallmark of great bubbles. Champagne tastes, but at Prosecco price.

André Clouet Silver
Phenomenal. A stunning medium gold color, this is a lean and racy Blanc de Noirs that doesn't disappoint. Mineral driven, with just a hint of red berries, with toasty notes of brioche. Brett's pick for quality and value.

Tarlant NV
A real stunner. This is a blend of 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 vintages, spending 15 years (yes, YEARS) on the lees. The wine is deep and full, with nuance and complexity. A regal wine with golden hues, this champagne has many dimensions: crisp Macintosh apple and pear, some hints of stone fruit, tangy and tonic minerals, with a natural ability to pair with food. Soaring acidity makes this wine virtually perfect.

Larmandier Grand Cru NV
From Cramant, within Champagne. Ripe pear and stone fruit flavors, as well as a richness and fullness on the palate, make this our most food-inclined champagne. Plenty of fruit flavors backed up by great acidity and a lean, tight finish make this one very expressive.

Monica and Todd Brown, along with their ROAR rescue dog, Otis, have a new year message for the community:

With 2017 coming to an end, we want to thank everyone for an amazing year of expansion and growth. We could not do what we love without the support of our community and clients.  We love being part of so many lives and I can't even begin to tell everyone how much you all mean to us.  Owning a small business in a town like Ridgefield is a gift and we really appreciate all of you.
Have a safe and happy New Year!
