Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Let’s make 2018 a big year for our Ridgefield small businesses and put a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community.

Three questions with Christy Kinsman and Laura Freed Ancona, owners of The Angel Cooperative.

Why did you start your business?

Really, it was a divine calling.  We have been best friends and "soul sisters" for over a decade.  We met through our mutual connection to real estate.  Laura has been a realtor for 15 years, and Christy has been her "secret weapon", staging every home with the intention to create the right energy to draw the buyers in. Christy has been an interior decorator and retailer for almost 15 years and has intuitively practiced the principles of feng shui design. Both of us have always been drawn to crystals, energy, and positivity.  Laura and her husband Joe own Tusk & Cup, and when the space right next door opened up, we knew it was meant to be ours. We have created a store that embodies positive energy and offers comprehensive merchandise which reflects that mission. The tagline of our store is Purveyors of Positivity for the home, body, and soul, plus Laura continues to offer full real estate services, and Christy provides a full range of interior decorating and staging services.

Best selling products or services?

Everything in the store was bought with the intention to lift you up and make you feel wonderful. We have unique and inspirational items for your home, body, and soul. We offer everything from inspired clothing and fashion accessories to art, jewelry, candles, essential oils, crystals, books, pillows, home decor, plus seasonal and specialty gift items.

How many people do you employ? Any youth or seniors from the community?

Our fantastic staff is comprised of individuals ranging from high school students to seasoned retail professionals. In the back of our store, we have built the USA's first Shungite Room, with all 6 walls made of a natural healing stone from the Shunga region of Russia, that is being called the "Miracle Stone of the 21st Century."  We welcome everyone to come in and enjoy the balancing and uplifting energy in the room or to schedule a session or workshop with one of our many experienced practitioners ranging from reiki to angel readings, sound therapy, meditation, and energy work.  We have some of the most gifted and talented lightworkers in the area working with us!
