Ridgefield Thrift Shop is Ridgefield's Business of the Year

Today, Tuesday, January 23, Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Jennifer Zinzi, and RVNA CEO and the Chamber's Chair-Elect, Theresa Santoro, stopped by the Ridgefield Thrift Shop to surprise the staff as well as Mary Ellen Loncto, Thrift Shop President, with some exciting news. The Ridgefield Chamber has named the Thrift Shop Ridgefield’s 2018 Business of the Year!

“It was a unanimous vote, they really hit on all of our criteria,” said Zinzi, who added, " Congratulations to the Ridgefield Thrift Shop we honor you for your long-standing commitment to our community and outstanding mission. Thank you for all you do!”

As CEO and President of the RVNA, Santoro shares a historic relationship with the Thrift Shop. "The Thrift Shop is so deserving of this award," she remarked.

The Ridgefield Thrift Shop moved from Catoonah Street to a very visible and larger location at 20 Governor Street in May of 2017. Since then, the shop has grown leaps and bounds, doubling their profits and daily foot traffic.

Staffed by 100% volunteers, Zinzi shared even more good news with the Thrift Shop team, “They [Ridgefield Thrift Shop] fill our Volunteer of the Year category as well -  there is so much excitement here!”

The Ridgefield Thrift Shop was incorporated in 1946 as an independent nonprofit organization chartered to sell donated goods to raise money for charitable organizations that supported Ridgefield residents. The shop continues to be true to its mission. In 2016 the shop donated $160,000 to 40 local nonprofits.

Congratulations to The Ridgefield Thrift Shop and thank you for all you do for our community!
