Beautiful Burgundy's, Sparkling Wines & More

Bubbles

André Clouet Silver - Phenomenal. A stunning medium gold color, this is a lean and racy Blanc de Noirs that doesn't disappoint. Mineral driven, with just a hint of red berries, with toasty notes of brioche.

Bernard Remy Brut Rosé NV -  A beautiful salmon color. This particular champagne is just as nice to look at as it is to drink. Clean and crisp, with a sneaky mousse, slightly yeasty with tons of red berries and some candied apple. Smooth and supremely versatile with food, or just to enjoy by itself.

Michel Gahier Crémant du Jura NV - A massively undervalued wine, from a quiet, contemplative producer. This crémant is made from purely Chardonnay, a grape that Michel has a particular affinity for. One encounters a fine, silky mousse, with some yeasty notes and lively fruit, with a long, complex finish framed by minerals.

Jaffelin Crémant de Bourgogne Blanc de Blancs - 100% chardonnay shines in this crisp and delightful wine. Hints of crisp green apples skins and underripe pear underpin solid minerals. Crisp, clean, and a true crowd pleaser.

Tarlant NV - A real stunner. This is a blend of 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, and 2000 vintages, spending 15 years (yes, YEARS) on the lees. The wine is deep and full, with nuance and complexity. A regal wine with golden hues, this champagne has many dimensions: crisp macintosh apple and pear, some hints of stone fruit, tangy and tonic minerals, with a natural ability to pair with food. Soaring acidity makes this wine virtually perfect.

White

Goubard Bourgogne Blanc 2014 - Michel Goubard's family has roots going back to the 17th century in the small village of Saint-Désert in the Côte Chalonnaise domaine. An approachable wine, aromas of vibrant citrus, stone fruit with just enough body and a long, fresh finish. Sustainably grown, and totally unoaked.

Pouilly-Loché Monopole 2014 - the signature wine from the estate of Olivier Giroux. 70 year old vines grown on iron-rich red clay and limestone soil. The resulting wine is beautifully textured, with impeccable balance and prominent minerality. A more serious, meditative wine than the Goubard, but unfailing delicious.

Buisson Saint Romain 2014 - a somewhat rare wine, from an often neglected appellation in the Cote D'Or (Saint Romain). The Buisson family has been producing wines since 1947, with their two sons Franck and Fred now running the family enterprise. Made from Chardonnay grapes from 20 year old vines, this is a lean, focused white Burgundy with flinty minerals, poise, and elegance.

Red

Koehler Pinot Noir 2014 - hailing from Alsace, this is a pleasant departure from the typical Pinot Noir. Class red fruit is framed by a smoky note, with midpalate flavors of deep, wild black cherry. A more savory style of Pinot, while still keep the balance, smoothness, and freshness for which it is so cherished.

Forey Bourgogne Rouge 2015 - in my (somewhat) humble opinion, this is simply a perfect, delicious red Burgundy. This wine opens up with a very traditional, earthy, Burgundian nose of soil and mushrooms which evolves to black cherry and crunchy red berries. Feminine, yet focused, with yummy fruit on the palate and a long, mineral finish.

Berthelemot Pommard 2015 -  a simply stunning expression of terroir and elegance. The freshness and energy of the 2015 vintage really shines with this one. Raspberry and cranberry dominate, with undertones of bing cherry. A tasteful seasoning of oak gives structure to this otherwise delicate wine, which gives way to aromas of earth and soil. Energetic and a classic northern Côte de Beaune.
