Henri Prudhon Saint-Aubin 1er Cru "La Chateniere" 2015 - Truly, a special bottle. One of my favorite producers, wines at all levels of his really astounds me with their complexity and purity. This is right down the road from Puligny-Montrachet (think: expensive real estate), meaning you're getting a nearly identical terroir for a fraction of the price. This bottle combines the grace and finesse of Henri Prudhon, with the generous sunlight and energy of 2015. Aromas of yellow pear, yellow apple skins, toast, vanilla, with a sturdy core of polished wet stone. By any measure, this wine over-delivers.

Austin Hope Paso Robles 2015 - everything a Cabernet Sauvignon should be - powerful, structured, dark, yet precise, balanced, and approachable. The Austin Hope Cabernet achieves all of these criterion. Austin's father opened the winery up over 40 years ago, so unusually, this is still a family run operation despite being from California. Additionally, this wine has a very specific microclimate, as the vines are planted over 1,000 feet above sea level on marine soil - all this means is that the wine truly is graceful, despite being very sturdy. Aromas of black fruit, pepper, spice, even floral notes shine through, all with firm yet fine tannins and a long finish. Steaks, anyone?

Endrizzi Trento DOC Sparkling Rosé 2011: A blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from Trento, an area east of Garda and very Dolomite in character. Making wine is not easy here, with steep slopes, cold temperatures and very demanding soils, yet the Endrizzi family has been doing it since 1885 (they're on their 5th generation of winemaking). I would describe this as "Champagne at Prosecco pricing". This is aged 60 months on the lees, plus, it's a 2011 bottling and that age has really enhanced the nuances of the wine. Complex and compelling, with tangy minerals and subtle red berry flavors, it is an absolute steal and will come in at a better price, with more complexity and more age than even your mid-range Champagnes.
