Why Small Businesses Matter

brought to you by Fairfield County Bank

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. Since the campaign began in January 2018, more than 60 Ridgefield businesses have been "tagged" and given the opportunity to share their story.

You’re IT Ridgefield Dance and Fitness!

Three questions with Jessica Mancini, former owner of Ridgefield Dance and Fitness

Why did you start your business?

I started my performing arts studio in June of 1999 at 22 yrs old, to fulfill my dream of owning a local performing arts studio, and to connect with the youth of our community by sharing my passion of movement and music. In 2010, I purchased The Fitness studio (Everywoman's Spirit) and expanded our services to fitness. The two were brought together to form Ridgefield Dance & Fitness.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business: “I wish I could…”

I wish I could do this forever and continue to make the connections I’ve made over the years, with new, bright-eyed, open-hearted, incoming students. I have recently sold my business because I want to travel with my husband and three boys, and I’ve been presented other business opportunities that support my other passion; supporting women in business across the globe. However, Ridgefield Dance & Fitness will continue to live on with a new owner, who is perfectly suited to continue the positive environment and performing art accomplishments it’s known for. A bonus is that I will be able to continue teaching under the new ownership and continue my love of teaching!

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

We LOVE to use local businesses for all of our needs. Supporting each other when we can is extremely important.

-Ridgefield Office Supply, aka Squashes, owner Whitney Williams, for our office supplies and copies.
-The UPS store, owner John Sommer, for shipping.
-Joy of movement, owner Cheryl Lozach, to collaborate with our students yearly dance attire.
-Signature 22 Printing, owned by a local mom Mary Lichodolik, for our competition team and branded activewear.
-Southwest Cafe, owner Barbara Nevins, when we just need a Margarita after a long day.

I am honored, grateful, and humbled that the Ridgefield community has supported me these last 19 years. The support of our community has allowed me to live in the town where I was raised, the town I love, and the town I continue to raise my three sons. Ridgefield is simply the best.

I would like to tag and acknowledge the boutique, Bring N Buy and Bring N Buy Too. One of my favorite boutiques in Ridgefield.

Ridgefield Dance and Fitness is located at 79 Danbury Road in Ridgefield. Visit them online here.
