Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Tigers' Den!

Three questions with Joe Attonito, owner of Tigers' Den.

Why did you start your business?

When I was 14 years old I started working as a busboy in a catering hall.  At 21 I managed a multi-million dollar restaurant and basically never looked back.  I fell in love with the business of restaurants.  I craved learning...about food, drinks, service...how to fix broken equipment, how to mix flavors...whatever I could learn I did (and I still am to this day).  When the opportunity to own my own place arose I jumped at it, and am very grateful to be in such a wonderful community!

Finish this sentence: "I wish I could..."

I wish I could grow into the restaurant I've always dreamed of.  Family friendly, excellent food and most importantly able to give to the community!

How many people do you employ? Any locals?

We employ a out 10 people most times.  We always try to hire young men and women from the community, and we currently have a good strong force of local high school and college kids.  We also employ John Herr, who is a well know local man.
