Three questions with Will Sibley, owner of New Beginnings Landscaping, LLC.
Why did you start this business?
I always knew I wanted to be a landscaper and designer, I even wrote an essay on it in 8th grade! My father owned a lawn service and I worked for him all through high school and college (where I studied landscape design and nursery management) but I always knew I did not want to just cut grass, I really wanted to design, create and manage properties. So in 1995, my wife to be (now my wife) and I started New Beginnings Landscaping, a landscape/design-build company, and here we are 23 years later still passionate about what we do.
How many people do you employ? Any youth or seniors from the community?
We currently employ 11 people. One of our employees is a student at Ridgefield High School, and both my sons, also students at Ridgefield High, are working for me this summer. In addition, my father, who has retired from his own company and is 73, has worked for New Beginnings managing our maintenance division part-time for the last 5 years.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business and can you name them?
We use Ridgefield Supply and Ridgefield Hardware for materials and tools as well as Squashes for office supplies. Some local subcontractors we use are Carroll Construction, Regi's Carpentry, and Ecosystems. We also use Ridgefield Transfers Station, Spectrum Systems and many others to help our business run, we could not do it without them.
