FitGuana on Bailey: an open concept gym with an industrial vibe

An open-concept strength and conditioning gym with a rustic industrial vibe is coming to 16 Bailey Ave in Ridgefield.

Enter FitGuana.

“What sets FitGuana apart is the very creative coaching style. We are there to work but also like to make it fun and fresh every time,” says owner Sander Vanacker, whose company Vanacker Partners recently purchased 16 Bailey Ave.

You won’t find typical fitness machines at FitGuana. “The idea is that you don’t need a fancy gym to get fit, strong and healthy,” says Vanacker. FitGuana will be equipped with TRX Suspension Trainers, kettlebells and many other fitness tools for strength and core training. “This way you can also take what you’ve learned in class to your home, on vacation,” says Sander who adds, “Safety is a top priority which is why we enjoy designing challenging classes in a safe environment.”

According to Vanacker, FitGuana will be home to a variety of classes, both heart-pumping high intensity and interval classes including Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), as well as specialty yoga classes. The gym can comfortably accommodate up to 24 class participants. They will also offer gym classes for three to five-year-olds.

Vanacker says she hopes to open FitGuana in October but a specific date is not set due to the current building renovations.

FitGuana will offer monthly memberships as well as punch cards and discounts for civil servants and students. Stay tuned for a grand opening membership opportunity!
