Ridgefield's Language School Expands, Relocates to Roberts Lane

After being located at 158 Danbury Road in Ridgefield for three years, The Language School (TLS) is proud to announce that they have moved to larger space at 10 Roberts Lane, Suites 203 and 205, to accommodate their growing business.

The Language School offers American Sign Language; Arabic; Chinese; Dutch; English; French; German; Greek; Hebrew; Hindi; Hungarian; Italian, Japanese; Korean; Latin; Portuguese (Brazilian and from Portugal); Romanian; Russian, Spanish; Tagalog; Turkish; Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.

The new location comes with some big news! The Language School is proud to announce that they will soon be an accredited school! This means that TLS students can earn foreign language credit for high school.  "This fall we enter the final stage of the accreditation process with Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools," says owner and founder, Karen Rolfini-Beckenstein.

"I created TLS because I want to give students of all ages the challenges, excitement, and satisfaction of communicating in a foreign language. Our school is based on a simple mission, To Understand and To Be Understood, explains Rolfini-Beckenstein. "Communicating with and respecting one another’s cultures is an essential element of true understanding," she adds.

Rolfini-Beckenstein makes learning a new language engaging, fun, and flavorful. The School's "Language Clubs", led by a TLS instructor, provide students with the opportunity to converse, share cultural traditions, taste ethnic foods, all while learning and having fun.

"Regardless of the reason for learning a new language, most students are interested in the social aspect of getting to know new people. One of the best ways to improve your conversational skills is by speaking with others. Our language clubs are a great way to dramatically improve your conversational skills while meeting others learning the same language," says Rolfini-Beckenstein.

In three short years, Rolfini-Beckenstein says The Language School has developed solid partnerships with fellow local businesses and has made it their mission to give back. "A team of our ambassadors went to Ridgebury Elementary School to explore Australia, China, France, Germany, Mexico, and Ukraine, answering questions about how different cultures act in their respective countries. We teamed up with the Tutoring Club of Ridgefield and Stamford and provide language tutoring at their facilities, and we partnered with Your After School and offer language instruction at Farmingville Elementary School and Ridgefield Academy," says Rolfini-Beckenstein.

Last year, The Language School supported The Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, a member of the Children’s Miracle Network, and The New England Pans/Pandas Association. "We are a proud sponsor of Memory Lane Cruisers’ Ridgefield Car Show* in support of Jeff Doyle, a Ridgefield resident fighting RSD," says Rolfini-Beckenstein, who adds, "We are working with Ann’s Place to provide free ESL health classes to Spanish-speaking cancer patients at the Danbury Library so they can effectively communicate their health concerns with their doctors."

Congratulations to The Language School! Keep growing strong!
