You're IT Wooster Hollow Cafe!

Three questions with Ron Herman, owner of Wooster Hollow Cafe.

Why did you start your business?

I retired from a 30-year career at GE 4 years ago and always wanted to own my own business. I was intrigued by diners & delis since they always seemed to stay in business while other types of restaurants would come & go. When I found Wooster Hollow Diner & Deli for sale in 2014 I thought that it was like a "2 for 1 proposition"! To be honest we struggled for the first 2 years as we had so many things to fix and we had to rebuild a reputation that had declined under previous ownership.  We started to make real progress when we decided to focus only on breakfast & lunch.  At this time we changed our name to Wooster Hollow Cafe and started to promote our business with Social media using emails, Facebook & Instagram.  I wish I would have started to use Social Media from the very beginning as it has helped us gain new customers and stay in touch with our existing customers.  We were recently named one of the top ten diners in CT by the News-Times and Yelp! We could not have achieved this success without our talented and hardworking staff of 11 employees.

How many people do you employ? Any locals?

We try to be a "good small business citizen" by hiring young adults with "Special Abilities" and we are a partner with Ability Beyond. We also deliver food to Laurel Ridge Nursing Home, Ridgefield Crossing Assisted Living Home, Children's Academy Daycare and our other neighboring businesses along Rt 7.

Do you use any local businesses to support your business? Can you name them?

We do as much business as we can with local companies like Sunburst Plumbing, BMW of Ridgefield, Smart Electric and Testa Refrigeration. We strive everyday to offer fast & friendly service in serving delicious and affordable food made with fresh ingredients. We look forward to welcoming you to Wooster Hollow Cafe!
