Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Enchanted Garden!

Three questions with Noah Manheimer, owner of Enchanted Garden.

Why did you start your business?

Judy Hirt-Manheimer who earned her MA in music and dance therapy began her early childhood music class out of her home, and also had a public access TV show. It grew quickly, and in 1989 she opened the first Enchanted Garden. In 2005, after her sons Noah and Isaac finished their master’s degrees in music composition and ethnomusicology respectively, they decided to join the family business and open Studio Two which offers music lessons, dance, theater and audio/video production. The Hirt-Manheimers are a family whose lives are dedicated to the arts and education.  Our mission is to share that passion with the greater Ridgefield community.

What is your best selling product/service?

That is a difficult question to answer because we are so many things to so many people! Many students have started with us as babies in Judy’s Music, gone through our International Preschool, continued on through their teens in our Dance, Music and Theater programs, and have even come back as young adults to intern or teach.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”

We wish we could convey the importance of the performing arts to EVERYONE, not just those who plan to pursue them as a career or main interest. Research has shown time and time again that participating in music, dance and art improves intelligence, coordination, empathy, creativity and much more. The performing arts bring out the best in people.

Enchanted Garden Studio 1 is located at 165 Danbury Rd. Studio 2 is located at 529 Ethan Allen Hwy. Visit them online here.
