Ridgefield is a better place because of Bissell Pharmancy

On this day 12-17-1973, Ed Karvosky arrived in Ridgefield to start his first day as a registered pharmacist

For nearly two decades (19 years to be exact), Ed and his wife Sue have owned and operated Bissell Pharmacy in Ridgefield. Located at 23 Governor Street Bissell Pharmacy has become part of the fabric of our great community - serving those in need and supporting our community.

Karvosky commented, “Little did I know that 45 years later I would still have the privilege of serving this same wonderful town.”

Bissell Pharmacy, which now includes upscale boutique "The Loft at Bissell", has overcome some of life's greatest obstacles thanks to the steadfast nature and determination of Ed and Sue, their wonderful (always smiling) staff, and the support of the wonderful community of Ridgefield.

Many will recall thirteen years ago a roaring fire engulfed the historical Bissell building on Main Street causing the Ridgefield landmark to collapse. Together with the Ridgefield community, Ed and Sue brushed the dust off and kept on going - serving customers, and finding a new place to set up shop.

“I want to thank all who I have helped and gave advice to for your continued support and confidence. It is this trust that keeps Bissell Pharmacy one of oldest continuing Pharmacies in the state of Connecticut. Without your support there would only be five chain stores to serve you,” said Karvosky.

Thank you to our small business owners who work tirelessly so we can have a vibrant community. They employee the Ridgefield youth, support our nonprofits and continuously come to the aid of community members in need.

Please remember to thank them and shop LOCAL this holiday season (and always).
