Whip Salon: 4 Things You Should Know About Microblading

4 Things You Should Know About Microblading

If you want to wake up each morning with beautiful natural eyebrows, microblading is a service that you might want to check out. Microblading is a form of as semi-permanent makeup that can partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair with the appearance of simulated hair. In the procedure, the artist inserts colored pigment into the skin through a set of single-use sterile needles, producing the look of natural hair strokes and enhancing the natural features of the face.

This technique can be used to improve or create eyebrow definition, to cover gaps of lost hair, to extend the eyebrows, or as a full reconstruction if the brows have little or no hair. With microblading your eyebrows will remain intact while you're showering, sweating, working out and going about all your daily activities.

We asked Whip Salon's Microblading Specialitist, Carolina Villalon what the most frequently asked questions are from her clients.

Common question: Does it hurt when you get microblading?

CV: It doesn't! For me personally, I find tweezing to be more painful than microblading! There's a topical anesthetic that is applied for 30 mins before the procedure which numbs the area and is added as need throughout the procedure. You will be comfortable throughout.

Common question: How long does microblading last?

CV: Microblading is a semi permanent cosmetic tattoo and can last as long as 18 months before a touch up is recommended. Everyone's skin is unique so aftercare varies from client to client but the main rules are to keep out of the sun, a little bit of sunscreen. Winter and spring are the ideal time to do it!

Common question: How do I know what brow shape is best for me?

CV: Microblading is not one size fits all. You can choose to start out as conservatively as you'd like. I consult with you to select from a look that's natural to big and bold. Our consultation will determine what look is best for you in terms of shape, size and color. You will have a very clear understanding of what the end result will look like before we even get started.

Common question: How does microblading affect my existing eyebrows?

CV: Microblading just enhances what you already have which is what creates such an incredible result. In fact, it does not result in hair loss, it actually can stimulate hair growth.
