You're IT Compass Counseling Group!

Three questions with Clifford LaMotta and Belle Lopes, owner and founders of Compass Counseling Group

Why did you start your business?

We studied together and graduated with honors from Fordham University. We remained friends and colleagues, each working as clinicians at incredible local agencies. We treated individuals, couples, and families of all ages with a full range of both clinical and life challenges. From the early days at Fordham, we bonded through our mutual passion to make a difference in the lives of others. We pledged to one day create a private practice partnership bringing all of our educational, work, and life experiences together to offer quality and meaningful services to our own communities. We were ecstatic to make that goal a reality when we created Compass Counseling Group. We are continuously honored to be serving our incredible clients.

Finish this sentence in regard to your business. “I wish I could…”

We wish we could reach all those seeking clinical services in Ridgefield and the surrounding communities in order to support our neighbors in each of their individual journeys. We wish we could make it known to all that they are not alone and that despite the misguided stigma that sometimes comes with seeking therapy, we all struggle in our own ways; having a therapist is more common than people often realize. There are no socioeconomic limits; each of us will face challenges, typical or atypical. There is wisdom and strength in reaching out for help. To our present and future clients, we say, “you will overcome challenges yourself, but you don’t have to do it alone”.

What is your best selling product/service?

Our best selling products are us! Cliff LaMotta, LCSW and Belle Lopes, LCSW. There is little meaningful work done in therapy without first having an excellent therapeutic relationship. We pride ourselves, first and foremost, on connecting and supporting our clients in a compassionate, non-judgmental environment that defines Compass Counseling. In addition to the relationship we mutually build with our clients, we offer many highly sought after evidence-based treatment models, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and Positive Psychology.
