This 5-session course provides a roadmap to explore the central themes and ideas that have influenced artistic practice since the 1960s.

In an intimate studio setting, participants will build skills to analyze, interpret, and discuss contemporary art while looking closely at works in the Museum.

This course includes a unique, behind-the-scenes opportunity to meet with exhibiting artist Zoë Sheehan Saldaña at the November 20 class, during the installation of her exhibition There Must Be Some Way Out of Here

“Getting” Contemporary Art is led by Danielle Ogden, M.A., Ed.M., Adjunct Professor at Fairfield University.

October 30 – Whose Art History? Investigating Identity and Seeing Color with Sara Cwynar’s exhibition, Gilded Age 

November 6 – Art, Place, and the Weather: An Exploration of Works in and about the Natural Environment from Andy Goldsworthy to Nick Cave

November 13 – Is Less More? Sculpture, Minimalism, and the Work of Eva LeWitt

November 20 – Pushing at the Boundaries: The Body, Politics, and Critique with exhibiting artist, Zoë Sheehan Saldaña

  • Weekly Wednesday Adult Class  - 5-Class Series: $200; $180 member
