Why Small Businesses Matter

Shop small, do big things for your community

Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!

You're IT Miss Confident!

Three questions with Brooke Wyatt, owner of Miss Confident.

Why did you start your business?

As a mother of two middle-school-age daughters, I know first-hand how difficult it is to find good quality, age appropriate clothing for nicer occasions that my daughters and I can all feel good about! I started Miss Confident to fill this void and to create a fun, comfortable shopping experience for girls and their grownups. I am also very appreciative of local organizations that provide leadership and confidence-building opportunities for girls and Miss Confident prioritizes supporting such organizations. To this end, Miss Confident is a proud contributor to the Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield Summer Camp Scholarship Fund, we are sponsoring an upcoming LiveGirl middle school leadership summit, and Miss Confident will be donating a percentage of sales from an upcoming weekend to Woodcock Nature Center.

Best selling product/service?

The best selling products in Miss Confident’s young existence have been well-made, comfortable dresses from Petite Adele, Un Deux Trois, Hayden, and Cheryl Creations. Nothing beats a beaming girl telling me about wearing a dress from Miss Confident!  We’ve recently added Sally Miller designs and more junior-sized clothing and expect those to be very popular as well. Bestsellers also include jewelry and gift items such as the ever-popular initial necklace, sterling silver earrings and rings, crossbody purses, and anything “narwal”.

How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?

Miss Confident works with local businesses wherever possible and has recently used: Squash’s, Ridgefield Supply, Banks Law, O’Brien Painting, R&D Renovations, Ridgefield Hardware, The UPS Store, Ridgefield Thrift Shop, and CB Cleaning Services.
