Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
Three questions with Sarah Evans Wallman, founder of Knead + Want
Why did you start your business?
I started Knead+Want because I had a strong desire to combine my creative, artsy side and baking ability. I have been baking for over a decade and with the support of family and friends (plus lots of friendly nudging!), I chose a company name and got to baking! Also, I truly love having something of my own, being my own boss, and being the one responsible for making people satisfied- with lots of sugar.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
I think a lot about this, especially during this pandemic, and how much small business matter. I am at the Party Depot every other day for cake boxes, sprinkles, fondant, dyes, cookie bags, you name it! They always have everything I need. Squash’s has a very specific Rhodia notebook I use for recording my orders, the labels I need for all of my packaging, and everything to keep me organized.
