Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Classic Connecticut Homes!
Three questions with Devin Meenan, founder of Classic Connecticut Homes.
Why did you start your business?
Even before I started Classic Connecticut Homes, working in the construction and house renovation business had been a lifelong dream of mine. Growing up, when I’d ride my bike through my neighborhood, it was the old historical homes on the block that always caught my eye the most. This experience left me with both an interest in architecture and a desire to build things. A stint working in software made me enjoy the creative process and gave me the ability to effectively collaborate towards constructive ends - this experience made the urge to jump to architecture even stronger. When my experiences in the homeowner's marketplace made me aware that there was an opportunity to provide a client-centric customer experience, I founded Classic Connecticut Homes in 1998.
What is your best selling product/service?
At the moment, the work done by Classic Connecticut Homes has been skewed towards interior renovations, particularly kitchens. However, our sweet spot is whole house renovations, inside and out. Our goal with any project we undertake is to work with our clients to build a home for them that’s as pleasurable to look at as it is to live in. To do so, we employ mostly classical architectural detailing. Hence, our name – Classic Connecticut Homes.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
Some of our local partners include:
- Brad DeMotte of DeMotte Architects
- Rick Johnston of Johnston Woodworks
- Joe Fusaro of Fusaro Plumbing and Heating
- Pilato Brothers Masonry
- Rob Creamer Taxes and Accounting
Devin Meenan nominates Brad DeMotte of DeMotte Architects.
