Four questions with Meg Whitbeck, co-founder of Nu, Expert Nutrition Services.
Why did you start your business?
We started Nu because there is a great need for nutrition education and counseling in Fairfield County and a lack of easily accessible Dietitians. As established practitioners in our area, we were ready to incorporate and hang up our own shingle!
What is your best-selling product/service?
Our 1:1 nutrition counseling and education sessions are most popular. We offer them via telehealth and in-person at our new office location in the heart of Ridgefield. We have both indoor and outdoor space to meet with our clients, which has been wonderful as we all get used to post-COVID life. No matter how our clients want to meet - we have that option.
How many local businesses do you use to support your business (products and services) and can you name them?
What is wonderful about this community is that there is no shortage of support and resources when it comes to small businesses. We have done printing at Squash's, are currently working with Marge Maida of Maida design, we have consulted with Kate Fitzpatrick of Kate Fitzpatrick consulting with a plethora of social media questions, and have been running in and out of Ridgefield Hardware as we set up shop in our new office space in Steve Zemo's amazing space at 100B Danbury Road.
We think so. And we think we are in the midst of another re-imagining right now! We started Nu in 2020 during the peak of the COVID pandemic. It was a wild time to start a business, but we were needed. Instead of starting with a brick-and-mortar office space from day 1, we launched as a virtual-only practice. This was foreign to us! Now that we are opening our new Nu office space, we are adjusting to this new venue and working with our clients in person again (which we LOVE)!
