You're IT Upnext Leadership Coaching!

Three questions with Jill Bornstein, Founder, and Executive Coach at Upnext Leadership Coaching.

Why did you start your business?

I founded Upnext Leadership Coaching to help next-generation leaders and budding entrepreneurs soar in an environment that supports, develops, and leads to purposeful and positive performance.

Given the pivot to remote and hybrid work, intentional professional development is even more critical for this demographic, and one-to-one coaching is one of the most effective ways to become a better leader. I have been fortunate to have multiple professional mentors and champions throughout my career and have specifically designed Upnext to offer the same to my clients.

I work directly with motivated, forward-thinking individuals or corporate clients who believe the voice of an external coach can help vigorously move promising new leaders and high potential managers forward.

What is your best-selling product/service?

My package for New Leaders, Female Leaders, or Budding Entrepreneurs is my most asked for service. In a series of 5 - 10 sessions, we work on a specific leadership skill that is either holding my client back or one they want to develop so they can expand their future leadership capacity.

Power boost topics include; understanding emotional IQ, identifying roadblocks to success, reframing your thinking, setting attainable goals and being accountable, effective decision making, delegation, and motivation techniques, overcoming imposter syndrome, or improved project management. Leadership coaching is not therapy, it is done through a process of open-ended questions called active inquiry to sharpen your inherent leadership skills.

Have you "reimagined" your small business?

Leadership and Executive Coaching isn’t just for the C-Suite anymore and it’s not for the problem employee. My business views leadership and executive coaching as a development tool for future success. And while Covid has offered me the opportunity to take my sessions online and gain clients around the country, my favorite approach is still to have the opportunity to work with my clients in person.

I am able to customize my four-step coaching process to each person and have been known to join my clients for an early morning run in Ridgefield if that is the only time they have to work through a topic. Finally, I believe it is okay for leaders to care and have compassion - it's a sign of strength to bring your heart into the workplace.

I created the CARES Leadership Framework to guide my clients because I’ve found that leaders who live the CARES values cultivate deeper connections and gain loyalty, which powerfully motivates teams and contributes to better business outcomes.
