Ridgefield Guild of Artists Offers Fall Workshops

Ridgefield Guild of Artists is pleased to present two new workshops for Fall 2021, one in October, one in November. If you’ve thought about taking an art class, a workshop is a great way to start. It requires only a one afternoon commitment, and are lots of fun!

Mark Making with Rachel Volpone and Cynthia DiGiacomo kicks off on Saturday, October 9 from 2-5pm.  “In this experimental workshop, we will explore a wide variety of ways to make marks through different techniques and tools. Start to develop a new vocabulary of line, texture, pattern and value. Learn to “enter” your work in a different way. Create numerous ink-on-paper studies that can stand alone or be used for collage. We will also create brushes out of unconventional materials.”  Paper, ink, and materials to make brushes will be supplied by the instructors.

Express Yourself BIG Time! with Souby Boski is on Sunday, November 14 from 11-4. You’ll learn to loosen up with Souby. “Using personal photographs as reference, students will work on several fast paintings. Guided towards discovering and trusting their own mark making statement and developing a critical eye. You will be encouraged to experiment and embrace spontaneity. By combining fast, bold, loose strokes, students will engage in the ‘process’ of the painting in the ‘present’ rather than concentrating on the end result.”

To find all the details on these two workshops and to sign up, visit the Guild’s website, www.rgoa.org, or call 203.438.8863. RGOA policy mandates that attendees for classes be vaccinated and wear a mask. (See full policy on RGOA website.) Participant capacity is limited. Sign up soon for a spot!

Ridgefield Guild of Artists is located at 34 Halpin Lane. RGOA is a tax-exempt 501c3 non-profit arts organization, now in its 47th year.
