Why Small Businesses Matter
Shop small, do big things for your community
Why Small Businesses Matter puts a spotlight on the local merchants who donate their time, talent, goods, and services for the betterment of our community. The shop local movement spreads virally as local businesses who are “tagged” have the opportunity to share their story!
You're IT Design Flower Fairy!
Three questions with Meta Ann Ela, founder of Design Flower Fairy.
Why did you start your business?
I started this business with a love for flowers and sharing gifts that brighten my client's day. My children are a big motivating force. I love that they see me pursuing my dreams to build a sustainable business. It speaks volumes about what is possible! Creativity, joy, and making arrangements by hand is a personal passion.
What is your best-selling product or service?
My best selling service is my weekly delivery to a first-class country club facility in Rye, New York. When I say first-class I refer to the dedication of the staff and members there. It is a truly beautiful venue and the staff and members create a family-centered atmosphere. I am proud to be a part of the service team. I look forward to adding a special touch with fresh flowers every week.
Of course, busy moms have a special place in my heart. When I receive a special order request on their behalf, it is always my true delight to deliver it. In 2022, we have some gorgeous small weddings taking place. It is an honor to branch out in this competitive field. I use two local farms to supply seasonal flowers. Both Ambler Farm and Good Hope Farm have been amazing partners this past year.
Have you "re-imagined" your small business?
I am always learning and improving as I go. I love that aspect of my business. This coming year, I am exploring adding a pressed flower keepsake line to my business. Thank you for your incredible community support. I look forward to the New Year!
